The first posting on here so lets see how it goes. The idea of this blog is just to try and share musical recommendations be they old, new, mainstream un heard of etc etc. I will welcome any advice and would also love to hear some recommendations from anyone out there who reads this etc.
Lets get cracking......My recommendation to you after being recommended to me by some good friends are these fella's The Black Keys. They have been around for a while and have a list of acts they have produced for as long as Mr Tickles arms. A quick listen though gets you hooked. The fact they are only a two piece wraps them up in even more genius as far as im concerned.
One of the acts these guys have produced is Radio Moscow dirtily beautiful in their fercious dispatch of old school feel. Brain Cycles is a truly brilliant album if you get the chance to grab hold of a copy.
For more of a hip hop vibe the Keys have also had their sticky little paws firmly lodged on the knobs and instruments behind Blackroc. Give them a listen and yes that is Mos Def......legend.
I could be here all day if i were just to post links to Black Keys produced music so lets step away......May be a bit of british.......The Heavy seem to be causing quite a stir. A nice bit of horn and amazing vocals makes them appear to be a little gem waiting to be scrubbed up by the mainstream. Not a Mark Ronson in sight.
Another little british gem I couldnt get out my head for many months were This City just listen to this tune and you will see why. Together with friends of theirs The Ghost of a Thousand they seem to be ripping it up all over the place. Maybe a bit heavy for some upon first listen but the album is a cracking piece of work. Along with Architects they are causing somewhat of a stir. Lets just hope they all keep it together.
Before I go and close this down for the day I would just like to slow it all down and give you Broken Bells. Beautiful. Fightened Rabbit.....Sorry about the language but brilliant!!
