Here goes.........Airship. Just finished supporting Biffy Clyro on their european tour their EP Algebra is worth a listen. Along the same lines as the Silversun Pickups also an album worth purchasing if you like a bit of Smashing Pumpkins chilledness. Big in the US not so much here.
A guilty pleasure at the moment are Metric. Have a quick listen. Maybe a stocking filler for the Mrs.
Never failing to impress are good old Enter Shikari another cracking video from them.
The Besnard Lakes Each track different from the last. Give them a go. As well as School of seven bells.
Just enough time to mention The Young Guns. As much as I like this band I cannot help but think their last two singles are exactly the same. Give them a listen and see what you think Crystal clear, Weight of the world
Until the next one...........

Na Na Now for something completely different...............
Although anything Rock is usually my weapon of choice I have always had a very open ear for anything with a funky beat......
Recently looking for something new I picked up Ty's album 'Special kind of fool' not having heard of him before it became apparent that britain has had a genuine superstar living in the underground. Witty, insightful and delivered in a superbly laid back style this mans other previous albums should be gathered and cherished before the mainstream catches up and devours them.
....talking of laid back Mayer Hawthorne has a beautiful sound for a chill out. Check out his album. Lets be honest no one can resist a bit of soul Lee Fields.....That'll do...that'll do nicely.
Shall we venture back to some Rock??.....Some youngsters keeping the blood flowing and showing awesome potential currently are Deaf Havana, We are the ocean and Attack! Attack! not to be confused with Attack Attack! from America (Hmmm did someone say court case?) have a go see what you think.
Loads more to come
Until next time.............

Take some time out............
A few chilled links here for the quieter side of life.....first up M.Ward some beautiful tunes from a simple singer/songwriter but the list goes on.......Bonnie Prince Billy has a special place on the ipod. A breakaway from whats cool and just good solid songs. Not just a clever beard.
A step away from the country type chilledness of the above is this tune Riot music - Donae'o. Not the strongest vocals but just entrancing in its simplicity and one of those tunes you wish wouldnt end. A true tube train riding mind loss swirler.
If you feel like making a compilation or 'playlist' of these tunes then next up should be Phoenix - 1901. The opening guitar will hook you in and the rest will have you humming it all day. Next up try Blind melon - walk. Nice bit of harmonica never hurt anyone. Slightly more up to date Caribou - Odessa. Unfortunately used on FIFA 11 this will be all over the place for a while to come but nevertheless a great tune for a sunday morning chill out. Last one before I go back to the day job is Flying lotus. no more needs to be said.
Oh actually before I go check out Warpaint. Not just a clever name.
And again to keep a bit of british Kill it Kid will warm ya cockles!!!
Until next time...........

Abolish 'Booking fees' on gig tickets!!!
Major gripe of mine......Booking fees on gig tickets. Where did they come from and why the hell do we roll over and just pay them? Some of the charges can add up to £4 per ticket onto your overall bill. What do they do? where do they go?
This is just cashing in on the publics favourite pass time. If you are facebook search for the group 'Get rid of 'Booking Fees' on gig tickets!!' join it and we can do what we can to make ticket prices more representative of the costs entailed.
Abolish the fees!!!!
Some interesting reading on the link below.....

What Im listening to..........
The first posting on here so lets see how it goes. The idea of this blog is just to try and share musical recommendations be they old, new, mainstream un heard of etc etc. I will welcome any advice and would also love to hear some recommendations from anyone out there who reads this etc.
Lets get cracking......My recommendation to you after being recommended to me by some good friends are these fella's The Black Keys. They have been around for a while and have a list of acts they have produced for as long as Mr Tickles arms. A quick listen though gets you hooked. The fact they are only a two piece wraps them up in even more genius as far as im concerned.
One of the acts these guys have produced is Radio Moscow dirtily beautiful in their fercious dispatch of old school feel. Brain Cycles is a truly brilliant album if you get the chance to grab hold of a copy.
For more of a hip hop vibe the Keys have also had their sticky little paws firmly lodged on the knobs and instruments behind Blackroc. Give them a listen and yes that is Mos Def......legend.
I could be here all day if i were just to post links to Black Keys produced music so lets step away......May be a bit of british.......The Heavy seem to be causing quite a stir. A nice bit of horn and amazing vocals makes them appear to be a little gem waiting to be scrubbed up by the mainstream. Not a Mark Ronson in sight.
Another little british gem I couldnt get out my head for many months were This City just listen to this tune and you will see why. Together with friends of theirs The Ghost of a Thousand they seem to be ripping it up all over the place. Maybe a bit heavy for some upon first listen but the album is a cracking piece of work. Along with Architects they are causing somewhat of a stir. Lets just hope they all keep it together.
Before I go and close this down for the day I would just like to slow it all down and give you Broken Bells. Beautiful. Fightened Rabbit.....Sorry about the language but brilliant!!
